The Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on Diaspora and Foreign Relations, Mr. Jermaine Sanwo-Olu has been presented with an Excellence Award for his service to the Diaspora at the recently held Nigerian Day Excellence Awards ceremony, organised by the founder of Sapio Club, Sonnia Agu, to celebrate Nigerians and Africans with disruptive ideas and projects that change the narratives.
Describing the awardees as individuals who have impacted positively in their fields of specialisation by rendering outstanding and quality services, Agu also announced Mr. Ibrahim Obanikoro, a member of the Federal House of Representatives and Mr. Seyi Tinubu, CEO and Founder of Loatsad Promomedia Ltd as deserving beneficiaries of the awards.
She explained that the Sapio community is a platform for diverse intellectual African citizens proposing and implementing homegrown solutions for development across the Nation.
In her words “Sanwo-Olu received the excellence award for his service to the diaspora which was in line with the club’s agenda to support, promote, and prepare Africans, both at home and diaspora, towards the UN 2063 United Africa goal. Also, Ibrahim Obanikoro was presented with the Youth in Leadership Award while Seyi Tinubu received the Excellence Award in Media Enterprise for the impact of their services to the nation as a whole”.
Agu affirmed that the Sapio Club is a platform for young, active, vibrant, detribalised, non-political, intelligent, knowledgable and emerging Nigerian leaders to network, share ideas and engage productively in civic activities that chart the course for a new Nigeria.
She added that activities of the organisation have also placed the country on a pedestal for sustainable growth and development in preparation for the 2063 African Unity goal whilst reclaiming the Nation’s position as the Giant of Africa.
The event themed: “Unity and Patriotism, a prerequisite for National Development” was held at Oriental Hotel, Lekki, Lagos.
