Lagos State continues to strengthen its position as Africa's leading destination for investment, innovation, and sustainable development through strategic international partnerships that create opportunities for economic growth and shared prosperity.
This commitment was recently reaffirmed as Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu received the Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Lagos, Mr. Michel Deelen, on a farewell visit marking the end of his diplomatic assignment in Nigeria.

The engagement provided an opportunity to reflect on the strong and productive relationship between Lagos State and the Netherlands, built over the years through collaboration in key sectors including urban development, water transportation, environmental sustainability, trade, and investment promotion.
Among the areas discussed were the Omi Eko Project and the ongoing regeneration and relocation efforts in Okobaba. These initiatives reflect the State Government's commitment to developing resilient infrastructure, improving urban mobility, and creating sustainable economic opportunities for residents and businesses alike.
Governor Sanwo-Olu also reiterated Lagos State's commitment to fostering an enabling environment for investment through business-friendly policies, institutional reforms, and strategic partnerships. This vision continues to attract the confidence of global stakeholders and position Lagos as a preferred destination for investment and innovation.

Mr. Deelen acknowledged the progress made by the State in creating a welcoming environment for investors and strengthening the foundations for long-term growth and development.
For the Lagos State Office of Diaspora Affairs (LASDA), engagements such as this highlight the importance of international cooperation in advancing Lagos' development agenda. Strong diplomatic relationships, together with the contributions of the Nigerian diaspora, development partners, and global investors, play a vital role in connecting Lagos to opportunities that drive economic growth, knowledge exchange, tourism, and sustainable development.

As Lagos expands its global footprint, LASDA remains committed to fostering partnerships that support the State's vision of a globally competitive, inclusive, and prosperous megacity.
The Lagos State Government appreciates Mr. Michel Deelen for his service and contributions to strengthening relations between Lagos State and the Kingdom of the Netherlands and wishes him continued success in his future endeavours.
Lagos is open to partnerships. Lagos is open to investment. Lagos is building a future that works for everyone.
