Lagos Strengthens Ties with Italy for Trade, Investment, and Diaspora Opportunities

Lagos State took another meaningful step in deepening international cooperation with a courtesy visit by the Italian Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Roberto Mengoni, at Lagos House, Ikeja yesterday.

His Excellency, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, welcomed Ambassador Mengoni for a constructive and forward-looking discussion focused on expanding collaboration between Lagos State and Italy across key areas of mutual interest. Central to the engagement were opportunities to strengthen trade, investment, and cultural exchange , initiatives that hold significant promise for delivering tangible benefits to Lagosians.

Both leaders explored practical pathways to build on the existing relationship, including enhancing commercial ties and promoting cultural connections that foster mutual understanding and shared values. The dialogue reaffirmed Lagos State’s commitment to creating an enabling environment that attracts global partnerships and supports sustainable development.

Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed optimism about the future of relations between Lagos State and Italy, noting the potential of the partnership to unlock new opportunities and create lasting value for the people of the State.
