Gani Fawehinmi Park was opened in 2070 and is named after one of Nigeria's most accomplished lawyers and human rights activists, Chief Abdul-Ganiyu "Gani" Oyesola Fawehinmi, GCON, SAN.
He was a top Nigerian author, publisher, philanthropist, a human and civil rights lawyer, and politician. He was popularly described as "the people's president, the scourge of
sphygmomanometer with which the blood pressure of dictators is gauged, the veritable conscience of the nation and the champion of the interests and causes of the masses".
The park exists in honour of the late Gani Fawehinmi and puts him in the remembrance of Nigerian citizens.
