Lagos, U.S. Explore Stronger Diaspora Engagement, Business Cooperation

Lagos State is strengthening its engagement with the United States, with diaspora relations, Nigerian-American businesses and diplomatic cooperation featuring prominently in recent discussions between the Lagos State Government and the U.S. Consulate.
The development followed a meeting between the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, and the United States Consul General in Lagos, Mr. Brandon Hudspeth, at Lagos House, Marina.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, who welcomed the Consul General back to Lagos, noted that Hudspeth previously led the U.S. Political and Economic team in Lagos between 2020 and 2022, giving him a strong understanding of the State and its people.
Discussions during the engagement focused on deepening diplomatic cooperation, supporting Nigerian-American businesses and strengthening engagement with the Nigerian diaspora.
The Governor also highlighted the recent signing of the Lagos–California Sister State Agreement as an opportunity to expand areas of collaboration between Lagos and the United States.

For Lagos, the engagement further underscores the importance of international partnerships in creating opportunities for investment, business, knowledge exchange and stronger connections with Lagosians and Nigerians living abroad.
As Lagos continues to strengthen its global partnerships, the State remains committed to building meaningful bridges between Lagos, its diaspora community and international partners.
Lagos is open for business. Lagos is ready for you.
