LASG To Enumerate Victims & Property Affected By Badagry Windstorm

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) is set to enumerate victims and property affected by the strong windstorm that occurred in the early hours of Monday, at Iragon Community, in Badagry-Central Local Government Area.

Speaking on the planned enumeration, the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer, LASEMA, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, stated that the exercise is aimed at determining the number of those that suffered severe damages to their structures, which include a School, Church, Community town hall and several residential buildings.

He observed that the preliminary report on the incident indicated no life was lost but the windstorm affected many people and several buildings saying, "The heavy windstorm and downpour in the early hours of Monday caused considerable damage to at least 30 households in the Iragon-Iragbo Communities in Badagry”.

"A number of homes have totally or partially collapsed, while others had their roofs blown off by the heavy wind and downpour. We can confirm for example that the prototype school in the community, St. Patrick’s Primary school has suffered extensive damage”, he added.

Oke-Osanyintolu pointed out that the Agency will give necessary updates as soon as the planned enumeration of damaged property and displaced persons, particularly the elderly, women and children within the locality is concluded.
