LASG ORGANISES WORKSHOP ON GOOD PARENTING

The Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) has organised a workshop on good parenting to educate parents and guardians on how to take good care of their children, as well as instill in them good societal values from a very young age.

In her opening address at the workshop held recently at LCCI, Centre, Ikeja, the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Mrs. Cecilia Bolaji Dada, disclosed that parenting is the process of raising children and providing them with protection and care in order to ensure their effective development into adulthood.

She, however, pointed out that good parenting differs significantly from general parenting because it is the art and skill of raising children in the best way possible by providing their physical and emotional needs from infancy all through to adulthood.

The Commissioner admonished all parents to endeavour to bring their children up in the way of the Lord so that when they grow up they will eschew all forms of evil such as cultism, prostitution, fraud, teenage robbery, gangsterism and other forms of domestic violence in the society.

Mrs. Dada, therefore, charge the parents to start the act of good parenting right from infancy in order to inculcate good societal values in the mind of their children and wards.

Other speakers during the programme were Mrs. Yemi Ogunlola and Mrs. Funmilola Peter Popoola.
