LASCODA CHARGES ASSOCIATION OF COCONUT PROCESSORS TO INITIATE VIABLE PROJECTS

The General Manager, Lagos State Coconut Development Authority (LASCODA), Mr. Dapo Olakulehin, has charged the Association of Lagos State Coconut Processors (ALSCOP) to initiate viable projects in order to attract government support. Olakulehin, who stated this while welcoming representatives of the Association on a courtesy visit to his office at Old Secretariat, Ikeja, reiterated the State Government's preparedness to support all active and resolute Associations that will contribute significantly to Making Lagos a 21st Century Economy through viable projects. He disclosed that Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has approved the establishment of 10,000 metric-tonnes per hour Coconut Husk Processing Factory in Badagry using the Public-Private Partnership arrangement as part of efforts to promote and enhance the Coconut Value Chain in Lagos State According to him, LASCODA is finalising plans to hold a stakeholders’ engagement, where all participants in the Coconut Value Chain will come together to resolve issues and devise a meaningful way forward for the progress of the sector. The General Manager also revealed that the agency is working on the registration of stakeholders in the value chain in order to issue them a valid Lagos State Government recognised Identity Cards that can be presented to law enforcement officers at roadblocks, especially on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway. Earlier, Reverend J.O. Olagbemi, the Chairman of ALSCOP, said the purpose of the visit was to bring to the notice and understanding of the State Government, through LASCODA, the challenges being faced in the Coconut Value Chain Sub-Sector. #LASG #ForAGreaterLagos
