Lagos State continues to consolidate its position as Africa’s most dynamic commercial gateway, advancing strategic partnerships that unlock capital flows, deepen trade relationships, and create sustainable opportunities for Lagosians at home and in the diaspora.

In a pivotal move, His Excellency, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, hosted Samantha Cohen, Chief Executive Officer of the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC), on a courtesy visit at Lagos House, Marina, on Thursday, February 26, 2026. During the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed, formalizing a partnership in preparation for Invest Lagos 3.0—the State's flagship investment platform scheduled for 2026.

The first two editions of Invest Lagos have successfully elevated the State's global profile, connecting credible investors with viable opportunities across key sectors. Building on this momentum, the 3.0 edition aims to go further by leveraging the CWEIC's extensive networks to enhance access to capital and trade linkages throughout the Commonwealth. As Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized,

“Our focus is that Lagos must attract capital, structure it properly, and turn discussions into projects that break ground.”

Invest Lagos 3.0 will convene top-tier investors, development finance institutions, and corporate leaders prepared to commit at scale. The platform will showcase investment-ready projects in critical areas such as transport, energy, housing, healthcare, logistics, digital infrastructure, and industrial corridors—each designed with clear execution pathways to ensure real impact. Additionally, the launch of the Lagos International Financial Centre will reinforce Lagos' role as Nigeria’s commercial and financial epicenter, while broadening access to long-term capital for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) that form the backbone of the economy.

Opportunities for the Diaspora

For Lagosians in the diaspora, this partnership opens exciting avenues for meaningful engagement. As global ambassadors for Lagos, diaspora members can leverage their expertise, networks, and resources to invest in these high-potential projects, contribute to knowledge transfer, and participate in the State's transformative agenda. Opportunities in sectors like digital infrastructure and renewable energy align perfectly with the skills and experiences of many in the diaspora, fostering job creation, skills development, and shared prosperity back home. The Lagos State Office of Diaspora Affairs (LASDA) is dedicated to facilitating these connections, ensuring structured and impactful participation that benefits both the diaspora and Lagos' development goals.

Governor Sanwo-Olu captured the essence of this forward-looking initiative:

“Lagos is ready and the opportunities are clear. Now it is time to close deals for developmental progress and move from intent to impact.”

The Lagos State Office of Diaspora Affairs (LASDA) remains committed to bridging global opportunities with our vibrant diaspora community through timely updates, strategic engagements, and dedicated platforms like the Lagos Diaspora Network. We invite Lagosians worldwide—professionals, investors, entrepreneurs, and changemakers—to join us in building a Greater Lagos.
