Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced an expansion in the operational capacity of the Red Line Rail Service, increasing daily trips to enhance commuting for residents.
Starting tomorrow (Monday), the service will now operate five morning trips and four evening trips daily, a significant increase from the previous two-morning trips.
This adjustment is expected to ease travel for passengers along the Agbado-Oyingbo corridor, offering a more efficient and reliable transport experience.
According to Sanwo-Olu, the total journey from Agbado to Oyingbo will take just 50 minutes, with a brief two-minute stop at each station, reducing waiting times and making daily commutes more seamless.
“This milestone reflects our commitment to improving mobility across Lagos. The arrival of three new train sets will further boost the Red Line’s capacity, reinforcing its role as a vital part of our integrated transport system,” the governor stated.
He described the Red Line as a transformative project, positioning Lagos as a city where enhanced connectivity fosters economic growth and a better quality of life.
With the state government’s continued investment in mass transit solutions, the expansion of the Red Line is expected to significantly ease congestion on Lagos roads, making public transport more accessible for residents.
