The National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos, built in 1972 was one of the primary stadiums for the African Nations Cup in 2000. It has a seating capacity of about 50,000 sports fans.
"The state's premier sports facility had hosted hundreds of national and international games."
Currently, the National Sports Commission has begun the process of totally renovating the facility into a world-class sports stadium in order to help it reclaim its 1970s glory.
