One of the major tourist destinations in Nigeria is the Badagry Heritage Museum, commonly known as the Black Heritage Museum Badagry. It was first constructed in 1863 as The District Office of the British Colonial Government and opened as a museum on August 22, 2002, as part of the Black Heritage Festival.

The Badagry Heritage Museum is divided into eight different sections-the introduction, the arrest, transportation, equipment, the resistance and retribution, the industry, their integration, and the abolition. Each section displays a wide collection of artifacts, sculptures, and paintings that cover the 300 years of slavery in Nigeria.
