Lagos Deepens Strategic Investment Ties with UAE at Investopia Global Africa

Lagos State strengthened economic ties with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) during the Nigeria–UAE Investment Forum at the inaugural Investopia Global Africa summit in Lagos. Held at the Eko Convention Centre on February 2, 2026, the engagement highlighted Lagos’ growing role as a hub for sustainable investment and innovation.

Led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos State’s delegation held high-level discussions with H.E. Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, UAE Minister of Investment, and other global stakeholders. The conversations focused on deepening economic cooperation and unlocking investment opportunities across key sectors, including infrastructure, technology, logistics, renewable energy, and the creative economy.

“This engagement is not just about dialogue, it is about building bridges that translate into tangible, real-world outcomes for our people,” Governor Sanwo-Olu said, reaffirming Lagos State’s commitment to a business-friendly environment supported by robust infrastructure, enhanced security, and ongoing regulatory reforms.

Investopia Global Africa convened investors, policymakers, and business leaders from around the world, building on Nigeria’s expanding strategic relationship with the UAE, including the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). At the summit, UAE investors projected over $10 billion in potential investments across sectors such as infrastructure, agriculture, technology, financial services, and logistics, with participants emphasising the importance of strong public-private partnerships.

For Lagosians in the diaspora, our global ambassadors this engagement signals expanding opportunities to participate directly in Lagos’ development through investment, enterprise creation, and knowledge exchange. The outcomes of Investopia Global Africa highlight the critical role diaspora capital, expertise, and global networks play in driving inclusive growth, job creation, and shared prosperity.

The Lagos State Office of Diaspora Affairs (LASDA) remains committed to connecting Lagosians worldwide to these opportunities through timely updates, strategic engagement, and platforms such as the Lagos Diaspora Network. The diaspora community is encouraged to stay informed and engaged as Lagos continues to strengthen global partnerships.
