In a gesture of strengthening global ties and fostering diaspora collaboration, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday received the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments & Aviation of The Bahamas, Hon. Isaac Chester Cooper, at Lagos House, Marina.
The high-level courtesy visit, which took place on March 4, 2025, signals growing interest in bilateral cooperation between Lagos and Caribbean nations with shared African heritage. Both leaders discussed opportunities for investment, tourism development, cultural exchange, and diaspora engagement.
Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed Lagos State’s readiness to deepen international partnerships that advance economic growth and cultural diplomacy, especially across the Black diaspora. He highlighted Lagos’s emerging status as a global megacity with thriving potential in technology, real estate, entertainment, and blue economy sectors.
Deputy Prime Minister Cooper, in turn, acknowledged the historic and cultural connection between The Bahamas and Nigeria, emphasizing the importance of building bridges across the Atlantic through strategic collaborations in trade and heritage tourism.
This meeting is part of an ongoing series of engagements by the Lagos State Government to promote diaspora inclusion and position Lagos as a destination for African descendants seeking reconnection and investment opportunities.
